First Presbyterian is an active church that helps individuals and families grow in the grace and love of Jesus Christ.
We offer a variety of programs for individuals and families and are large enough to offer an array of activities and ministries, but small enough to know each of our members personally. We would love for you to call our church "home."
This website only covers selected highlights so we encourage you to contact the church office at 304 727-2241, stop by, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or particular areas of interest. Our main message to you is...WELCOME!

Welcome, Rev. Mark Boyd
First Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce and welcome the Rev. Mark Boyd as the church’s pastor. Rev. Boyd was elected by the congregation on December 13, 2020, began his service on January 1, 2021 and was installed on April 18th. An outdoor reception was held following the installation service. Rev. Boyd invited colleagues from other denominations to participate in worship of his installation service, which is a representation of the whole Church of Christ on earth. Rev. Boyd’s guests came from the Roman Catholic Church, the Disciples of Christ Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Baptist Church, and the Mennonite Church USA. Rev. Boyd’s mentor from seminary, and current boss at St. Mary’s Medical Center, preached for us, and Rev. Boyd’s colleagues from his CPE cohort participated in worship, alongside members of the WV Presbytery.
Rev. Boyd was born and raised in Barboursville, West Virginia, graduated from Barboursville High School and Marshall University. He received his Master of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary in 2008. In addition to serving First Presbyterian Church, he is currently enrolled in the CPE Residency Program at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. Rev. Boyd has over twenty years of pastoral experience, serving churches in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Rev. Boyd is currently residing in Milton, WV with his wife Jamie and three of their four children. Their oldest daughter lives in Florida with her husband, while their son and two daughters are living at home attending school.
First Presbyterian’s Sunday worship service is at 10:00 am in person at 201 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans and live streamed on Facebook. Please join us for worship, meet Rev. Boyd and hear him peach the Word of God. You will find friendly faces, warm welcomes, and genuine caring. In person we follow the CDC guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing.
Please return your 2021 pledge cards to the Church office as soon as possible. Pledges and contributions may be mailed to the church, sent through your bank, or securely taken care of online by using the “DONATE” button on the First Presby website or Facebook page.
Session would like to thank everyone for their continued support of the church’s ministry monetarily and with your volunteer time. It is times like these that bring us together for the common good. We are praying that all are safe and well and will continue to be so.
